Numerous Ways to Use Audio on Your Site

Ways to use audio on your siteMost visitors of your website use computers with audio capabilities. Recently introduced techniques make it easy to take advantage of this capability.

In the past, web audio was primarily decorative, consisting of musical fanfares or other clichéd sound effects. Now, you can use audio to multiply the impact of your message and create stronger bonds with your visitors. Audio’s power comes from its ability to engage more of your visitor’s senses. The more senses you engage, the easier it will be to effectively communicate.

Here are some of the ways you can start using audio on your site.

  1. Welcome people to your site. Toward the top of the page, add your photo or a short statement saying “Listen to a short welcome message” then a button to start the audio. Keep it brief and tightly targeted to the people you’ve brought to the site.
  2. Make your bio more personal. If you’re using a one-page sales letter site, there’s a section on why they should listen to you and probably a photo. Add a caption to entice them to click. For example, “Here’s 3 ways I can help” with the audio button. This audio doesn’t have to echo what’s on the page – it can actually have an anecdote or an example to illustrate the written material.
  3. Provide client testimonials. One of the most powerful techniques for using audio is to ask your clients to record a short audio testimonial. Ideally you can capture this with a tape recorder at a live event or have them call and record it on the phone. The audio testimonial, combined with a photograph, gives a powerful picture of who you are and why a newcomer would like your services or product. (more…)

Royalty Free Music Explained

Royalty free music commonly refers to stock or ‘library music’ licensed for a single fee, without the need to pay any subsequent royalties.

It means that you can purchase it by paying once and getting a license that will not charge you any other royalties on your later use. When it comes to buying music, especially for commercial purposes, there are many different types of liabilities that you automatically incur and eventually find out that you always have to keep paying for subsequent royalties of some sorts.

This is the best reason why one would opt for royalty free music. You pay once, and use the music as per your requirements. This will certainly save you a lot of money, and importantly, valuable time. However there are some other issues that you need to be aware of. When you buy royalty free music it does not mean that you are also being awarded the copyright to your purchase. When you purchase royalty free music, in simple terms, it implies that you are free to use the music for your personal use, and this could further involve doing things using the music for creating multimedia applications, presentations, or other such things.

The important limitation you have is that the use of music you purchase is largely limited to your personal requirements. You may not distribute, sell, or rent this music to other people; for a fee or free. However, when you use royalty free music in your product, the copyright for the finished product certainly belongs to you alone. You may then sell it, share, distribute, or rent such a product to one or more people and charge them for it.

Royalty free music can be bought from certified music libraries and rates vary quite a bit. Usually, when you make your purchase, you receive the music on a physical medium such as a CD. You can buy from your local libraries or you can make a better choice and download music online. (more…)
